  1. Sparks

The Bug 3 is well constructed and easy to fly.I would recommend this drone and company Drocon with the awesome rep Nya. Had one issue and the was more than helpful. People for the price, this drone will blow others out of the water A+

  2. Noel Ingram

This drone is a great value. The motors are quiet. I was actually surprised how quiet they were when I turned on the drone, this is the first I’ve flown with brushless motors. An unexpected extra set of propellers were included in the box, which was a pleasant surprise and not in the description as far I I could tell. Putting the drone together is not difficult, but it is a bit tedious with the small screws, however, they include a screwdriver with a magnetic tip so it isn’t awful. The customer service is awesome! I had an issue and they worked to rectify it very quickly. I would recommend this drone to anyone that knows how to fly a drone. I’m going to attach my action cam once I get a lot of flights under my belt,

Very stable product. Flew it for the first time and just my luck, there was high wind. I flew the Drocon with a camera and without. Compared to the Syma X8 this was more easier to fly in high wind conditions.

The blades could use more work. I do think you could use this as a beginner drone but I think the higher end ones keep more stable. I was immediately used to the controls coming from a Syma X8 – the throttle and the pitches were the same but the shoulder buttons were different but that’s no issue at all as I was just flying and just sticking with basics.

My only complaint is that the blades seems to get worn out more easily, especially after the first 36 minutes of flight. They still work but it seems like the blades should be better quality. I’ll be looking into other blade options for this drone but the reason I got this drone was more for the superior motor and that made more of a difference than I had originally anticipated.

This drone is the definition of bang for your buck especially when it’s on a deal. Customer service seems great too, at least at first glance. I have yet to run into any real issues with the drone to contact them but the overall experience of Drocon seems great so far.

  4. Hiroku-hiroku

There’s really not much that I can personally add to describe this quad. This drone really needs no introduction. Even guys that fly RC Mig29 jets know Bugs. I’ll be ripping it up and doing flybys with this thing, 20degree day all by myself when someone, walking their dog will come along and ask “is that a bugs?” It’s that pervasive. So, I’ll describe my perspective of B3. anecdotally I just got another Bugs3. It’s the most fun to fly. I have more expensive drones and a stockpile of 7.4v 1800, 17.4v 3000 Xt30 connectors and replacement blades enough to last me into the next ice age. Price, however, does not equal more fun. I don’t have fun flying my spark. When I fly it I wish I was flying one of my bugs. I fly for the pure joy. Bugs3 fills that order. I’d have posted pics of the ocean but the bugs3 no have camera. Pictured is my long lusted after and recently acquired Blue B3. It has nothing but an LED and as I live in SF and flying space is limited to a 40’x20′ field I am an expert at the most challenging aspect of RC. High winds and a very small air corridor. Anyway, I appreciate the pure grunt and nasty disposition of this bird. Thank you for making this sport fun! Oh, yeah, not a beginner drone. Anything where the throttle isn’t under spring tension? lol. Goodbye! Who hasn’t lost a couple. Thanks MJX for making and keeping it fun.

  5. Dion Burgoyne

This drone has some crazy power! It’s lightweight, but very rigid, so it never feels loose. It screams when you have it at full tilt but it’s really friendly to new flyers, as long as you make small moves with it, it never feels like it’s out of control. Even after only flying it a couple of times it feels extremely natural. I’ve managed to bump it into a few things and gave it a few badges of honor (scrapes) but still haven’t managed to truly damage it yet. It’s extremely well built! It comes with extra props, and extra screws! The camera holder fits the sport cameras perfectly and has holes for the buttons. The radio has really great range and the trim buttons are very precise. I’m going to use it to shoot real estate listings, which means it has to be really nice and steady and vibration free, the videos that I’ve shot so far are beautiful! Really the best drone for the money!

  6. John Strong

I’ve purchased the MJX Bugs 3 drone 4 times.

    Why? It’s awesome that’s why.

I had come from a department stores $100 green and black “drone” wanting more than I had experienced.

I got it. This thing is crazy fun, its fast, agile, wicked powerful, sounds great, looks better, is stable as can be, and it gets about 20 mins of flight time.

There is not another quad copter or drone that I have found in my exhaustive search for bang for my buck options that can even come close to this thing.

It is unforgiving, especially when I while learning to fly (which will never stop) panic due to losing my ability to understand the orientation and how to pull out of some ridiculously risky thing I have tried. I have admittedly done this countless times and honestly don’t regret any of them as I learn each time. It does bruise the ego when shortly after lift off the neighbors BBQ crew of Saturday evening friends have a laugh due to my smashing full force into the lone tree in a 3 acre park area that happens to be the neighborhoods large central “backyard”.

    But I digress…

The Bugs 3 drone is one huge step up from any grade quad out there. Its extremely fun, remarkably tough, has loads of power and a very long flight time. I personally like that it does not have altitude hold or any of the other automated systems in place in most of the drones of this size, speed and quality. It is uniquely badass and kinda the only of its breed right now.

That plus all the mods available, it’s ability to also be used sanely for a very capable camera drone is another huge plus. Oh and I have failed to mention the range on this thing being unreal, so much so that it’s not likely anyone could ever find themselves limited by the range in LOS flying it’s just not possible. I’ve pushed it to the point of full on acceptance that I had flown it out of the ionosphere never to see it again when to my amazed self still nursing a drone I thought long gone slowly downward it appeared and I recovered it. Lots of good to say, not much bad at all.

At this price point you’re not going to get anything “better” only different. If flying without a safety net isn’t your thing buy something “different”.

If a drone that induces an ear to ear grin the entire time you fly it sounds good, Buy yourself a Bugs 3. I personally favor this Blue bugs over the red or black and recommend it whole heartedly.

  7. Waldo

I’ve had so much fun with these that I’ve bought 4 of them already (I’m an aggressive flyer 🙈 crashed one into a wall, and another fell from a tree, but replacement parts are cheap, got 2 this round for a backup drone).

The battery life is phenomenal especially with the upgraded 3000 mah battery.

I get 14-18 minutes of fly time with it easily depending on how much elevation change I’m making with it. Most other drones I’ve flown are more like 3-8 minutes of fly time with much higher price tags.

It’s crazy fast, super responsive, easy to fly, mega stable in all kinds of weather conditions (I was amazed by how well it performed in 10-20mph winds).

If you’re interested in getting into stunt drones or starting to film with a drone, it’s an absolute blast and great learning drone.

The lights make it super easy to fly at night (almost easier than in the day).

It’s my first more serious drone because my other ones were always just little toys, mainly for indoor use or limited outside flying.

I was up one evening researching drones with a long flight time and stumbled upon this one. Bought it and it arrived two days later (thanks Amazon Prime 💜).

Once I got it, I unboxed it, set up the legs and propeller guards (this is about 1 month ago and I still consider myself a novice). Played around a bit to see how it responded indoors (be careful). The drone was flashing and controller beeping, turns out that’s a low battery signal and you should charge the battery before you fly.

The battery was charged in about an hour, so I took it outside for a test run. It fired right up 😁 and flew like a dream.

Most of my time flying at first was going up and down, doing some flip tricks every once in a while, but mostly keeping it facing forwards and going left to right and forward and backwards to get my bearings.

Then I realized that when you go leg and right on the left paddle stick, the drone rotates beautifully (so wish I had learned this earlier on 😂).

It’s taken me about a month now and my brother (who’s an aerospace engineer with years of experience and has hand built his own drones/designed them) said that I’m one of the best drone pilots he’s seen. 🙈 I’ll take it with a grain of salt as I have a lot to learn.

But as I’ve spent more time with the drone. I removed the blade guards (gave me more mobility) and recently the legs as well. Removing the legs made it much more responsive (handling wise), faster flight, and longer battery life.

I’m learning more maneuvers with it and also bought a little ThiEYE 4k camera for it. Definitely recommend keeping the legs on for flying with the camera. It’s a much heavier payload, so it takes some getting used to (can’t come in as fast as normal as it will hit the ground without proper propulsion upon descent). Super cool to see the view from almost 1000 feet up though (gonna update my post later with photos and videos). 😁

  8. Mckay C

I have tried a handful of toy drones and this one is by far my favorite. It is really snappy and fast. The brushless motors give great speed and control.
I really like the fact that it comes with an action camera mount. The quality of of video I can get with my action camera is much greater than the quality of the cheap cameras I see on most drones.
The RC on this is nice and simple. It beeps when the battery power is low on the device. This comes with an extra set of blades. I recommend you don’t install the blade protectors because I feel like they do more damage (more on that in the video).
Definitely fly this on a large grassy field if you can.

  9. Jona

Very aerodynamic and fun to fly! I am a beginner from user and this drone can take a beating! I have had many high impact crashes and the Bugs 3 is still flying as good as ever. Not the best drone for taking pictures, it is more of an intermediate racing drone with fantastic acrobatics. Great for beginners who want to get the feel of flying a powerful drone without spending several hundred dollars!

  10. Aiden Tsang

If flying in the U.S. any UAS or drone that weighs over .55 pounds or 250 grams should be registered with the FAA. It costs $5 for 3 years and yes this drone should be registered due to it’s size.

  11. Burdin.B

This has to B the best budget drone ever out there. I ordered it not really paying attention to the specs. And 💭 I was getting a medium to smaller drone. And when the package showed up around Christmas time. I thought it was the big box from the popcorn factory my sister sends every year. And sang was I surprised when I opened this thing up. That’s why I took a pic of the box next to my dog for size reference. But it’s great for a beginner like me I’ve already taken it out a few times. I haven’t been able to get a big clearing so I haven’t put it trough it’s paces. And enjoying the heck outta it. Pointer from me disregard the pairing and of the drone and remote and the remote controller dial in. Because it’s already done from the factory. I was doing the remote for 20 minutes b4 I read the instructions to the end and repaired the remote to drone. For some reason they tell you they’ve done all this stuff at the instructions for doing this all to find out it’s already been done. That’s my only down side that an it doesn’t have a 📷 attached but it does come with a device to attach a go pro type. And I’ll think I’ll be making that purchase because I love this thing. It has a ton of getup when u hit the throttle so B careful or you’ll send it into orbit b4 u can blink. Also no self level. But for this price you can’t expect much because they’ve already gone above and beyond. I would recommend this and purchase again.

  12. Burdin Tom

I’m so impressed with the Drocon MJX Bugs 3 that the quadcopter demands a review! I would consider myself an “intermediate” pilot, beginning with toy drones, brushed motors, etc. I’ve experienced all of the aches, pains, and crashes of learning to fly. I’ll focus my review on those who may be shopping for a beginner-to-intermediate drone. Just to be fair, however, I believe even the most experienced pilots would have a blast with the Bugs 3.

I’ve read reviews stating this quadcopter may not really be suitable for beginners due to not having headless mode, altitude hold, or any of the SAFE technology. I will challenge those reviews and say that most of those attributes, while valuable, can be overcome if new pilots have wide open spaces to learn. Take the time to read the manual and know the functions of the transmitter. It seems rather simple when you read the material and look at the diagrams, but it can be much different once the drone is in the air. A common mistake of beginner pilots is to flip the throttle stick full-tilt and hold on tight. Panic sets in, the drone disappears, and your flying experience is less than favorable! And with the brushless motors on the Bugs 3, that baby will disappear fast at full throttle! There are two speed-modes on the Bugs 3, and I would recommend “slow” mode for all beginners. It’s a simple click of a button on the transmitter, which will produce a single tone from the transmitter. If it beeps twice, you’re in “fast” (hold on tight) mode in which the drone is far more snappy and responsive. Move slowly with all movements on the transmitter sticks, and you’ll soon see how much control you really have. A slight slide on the throttle stick results in noticeable altitude gains, so moving in very small increments will help you learn control. Early in your learning process, you can find a sweet spot between 1/4 to 1/3 throttle in which you somewhat create your own “altitude hold”. It may hover 4-6 feet off the ground, but you’ll find it. That will allow you the opportunity to leave the throttle alone and focus on slight movements and/or trimming the drone. You’ll get roughly 15 minutes of flight time on the battery that’s included, so you can take your time learning the movements and functions. Just remember….small movements on the sticks. As you improve, the extra power and function will be there!

If you choose to fly on windy days and keep the drone at a reasonable altitude (10-15 feet), mild-to-moderate winds will have little impact on the flight pattern. It is incredibly stable in flight, and it has more than enough power to cut through winds, even in “slow” mode. This drone has an abundance of power!

Understanding the function and value of the prop guards, I still chose not to install them. With the guards in place, a moderately rough landing will often result in the props making contact with the guards, which can slightly damage the props. They provide an extra set of 4 props, which is a nice bonus.

I also didn’t install the extended landing gear or camera mount as I choose to fly w/o a camera. I can always add them if I decide to do some aerial photography.

The flight time is impressive and not exaggerated in the description on the site. Minus the prop guards, extended landing gear, and camera mount, I average 15:05 in flight time with 1/2 throttle flights in both “slow” and “fast” modes. I purchased a more powerful second battery (Engpow 7.4v 3000mah) that consistently averages 20:48 flight times. Obviously there are various factors (attachments, wind, throttle management) that could improve or decrease your flight times, but this far exceeds many of the other beginner drones.

If you’re a beginner and willing to take the time to learn the drone, I’m confident the Bugs 3 will far exceed your expectations. Do some reading, assemble the drone (15-20 minutes), and get yourself to open spaces! And remember….small movements on the sticks!
